WALHOWEEN Part 5

The final day of camp started out a little rainy and cloudy, but it didn't stop us from playing the annual 500 tournament.

The rules for 500 are the exact opposite of what most wheelchair users follow. Whoever gets hit by a Wiffle ball and earns 500 points is the winner. Parker and I didn't last too long in the game, so we cheered on our friends and watched a Taylor Swift live stream.

That night was the harvest fest. Donnie made pork tacos, Courtney brought her snow cone machine, and we even had a cotton candy machine courtesy of Parker.

We had fun playing games, eating good food, winning prizes, and even getting our faces painted.

During the harvest festival, Julie ran another craft. This was the jar I decorated using a napkin, Modge Podge, and Glitter. I put it out in my room with a couple of tea lights inside to make it glow for Halloween.

I had a great time at Camp, meeting new people and seeing some old friends again. I can't wait for next year!

WALHOWEEN Part 4

Wednesday night was the big dance night! My friends and I all had an amazing time, dancing, laughing, and making lots of memories!

Our group definitely had fun dressing up for the big night. Parker and I planned our costumes months in advance! We were different Taylor Swift Era's. She was Debut and I was Red. Courtney was Wednesday Addams and Raigan was Scooby Doo. I think Alice was a specific character, but I don't remember what it was, so for now lets say she was a farmer. LoriJean was a mechanic.

Donnie wore another person's ladybug costume for a bit during the dance. It was quite the look on him!

I stayed up until midnight dancing with friends. There was even a volunteer who taught me some tricks with her hula hoop! It was a great night.

WALHOWEEN 2024 Part 3

After our nightly adventure into the woods and running on almost no sleep, we got up bright and early Tuesday morning for the annual Dells Boat Tour. Now, if we hadn't all been exhausted (and Donnie hadn't spilled coffee all over Parker) we probably wouldn't have looked so blah. But since we were exhausted, we couldn't enjoy the trail ride nearly as much, but at least Donnie kept us going with some music.

After the boat ride we took a walk through the Witches Gulch. The scenery was beautiful as always, but it's hard to enjoy it more when you're focused on keeping your eyes open and not drive into big rocks. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable and everyone survived the morning with minimal dozing off.

After some much needed R&R that afternoon, we headed to arts and crafts where Julie taught us how to hydro dip with spray paints. It's hard to see in the picture, but my cup was turquoise, pink, and gold!

Despite the craziness of the day and the night before, it turned out to be a pretty good day!

WALHOWEEN 2024 Part 2

Monday was a busy, fun, and crazy day at WALH. The day started out slow with hangouts outside and spending hours at the swimming pool.

That night started out normal and fun! I spent plenty of time in arts and crafts with Julie and made a pumpkin out of mason jar lids, festive ribbon, and double sided tape! It was a great way to pass the time before the scavenger hunt started.

Before I tell this story, I want you all to listen to this song to describe the thought process of me and my group during our little adventure.

The scavenger hunt theme was Sleepy Hollow, so naturally, everyone split up into teams and went into the woods.... at night.... in the dark.

What we didn't know was that each team had to have at least one person who knew the woods well with them.

We spent a lot of time in the woods thinking eventually, someone would find us and help us get back to camp, but the farther we went, the less people we found. Eventually, we wound up at a camp-- just not the right one! We ended up at the other respite camp by the highway! Donnie and Mariah had to come and rescue us with Lauren's van and we didn't get back to camp until almost 1 am!

It wasn't much of a fun experience then, but now we can laugh about it and we have a great story to tell!

Stay tuned for my next post about the boat ride we had to be up for bright and early after our little jaunt in the woods.

WALHOWEEN 2024 Part 1

Hi everyone! It's finally time for my post about this summer's WALH camp! The theme was WALHOWEEN, so now is the perfect time to start these posts! I took so many pictures and have so many stories that I'll be doing multiple posts about 1-2 events depending on what pictures I have.

This year was so busy, but I loved every minute of it (almost every minute. Stay tuned for my next posts for that story.)

As per tradition, after checking in and having dinner, we celebrated being together again with a campfire! I love a good bonfire especially with all these amazing people!

Sunday was the first big event-- Corvette rides! I didn't go as fast as last year, but it was still a lot of fun! Parker made sure to keep her her secured this year and it worked! Her hair stayed in place this year!

My roommates were awesome! Of course Parker and I were together and this year my helper Raigan was amazing! She was so much fun and I hope she'll be able to join me again next year!

LoriJean and Alice were new this year, but Parker and I made sure to make them both feel welcome! I think the had a great time!

My next post will be a bigger one because I have quite the story! (Hint: Don't let 4 people who don't know the woods very well loose at night.)

Fall Session at 3 Gaits

This session at 3 Gaits I've been riding Hendrix and Bullseye. I only rode Bullseye a couple times due to him needing more training for future lessons, but I've ridden Hendrix before and I really like him! He's a lot like Ode, but sometimes he likes to misbehave.

During lesson's my class has been learning a dressage pattern! It's a lot to remember, but the more I do it and review the map at home, the easier it's getting. The goal by the end of this session next week is to be able to ride the pattern independently indoors and outdoors.

Hendrix likes being outside, but he's not a fan of bugs! He has a very long trot that sometimes turns into a canter. By next week, I'm hoping to meet my goals of riding the pattern on my own and doing an independent trail ride outside!

At the end of the lesson Hendrix started getting antsy and tried to eat grass. He was ready for a break! Overall it was an awesome lesson!

Fall At Camp Createability

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've done any art posts, so I'm going to share some of my recent artwork at Camp Createability.

These canvases are all in the gallery except the one with 2 pumpkins. I painted that one for our mantel at home!

These watercolor pieces are for my own personal stock of greeting cards, but I have many others in the gallery. If you're interested in checking them out, the link to the gallery website will be at the end of this post.

I've been enjoying playing with watercolor more and working on blending them and wet on wet techniques.

As always, I'm keeping the shop well stocked with bracelets. Some of them are made of embroidery floss, but a good friend of mine gave me some of her late husband's hemp supplies that I've been enjoying using as well.

This key chain was originally supposed to be a hemp bracelet, but with all the beads, it was to heavy, so I turned it into a key chain!

This is quite a bit of artwork, but I have plenty more that I haven't shared! Make sure to check them out on the website or stop by the gallery in person during select hours!

Thanks for reading and happy fall!
