Back In The Saddle Again!

This week I started riding horses again at 3 Gaits after a long break. I got to ride Moon again which was a lot of fun.

The person who was my lead walker was actually Moon's owner, which may explain why he was so well behaved.

Since it was the first class of the session, we focused on refreshing our minds on the basics of riding. Lots of steering and two-point, which was a nice refresher. At the end of the lesson we went outside for a trail ride.

A funny story about the trail ride is that one of the other horses in the lesson needed to be between at least 2 horses, otherwise he'd scare himself! What makes it even better is that he was the biggest horse in the class.

At the end of the trail ride, we went back inside the arena to dismount. Sometimes after the first lesson, I have a hard time getting down, but this time I got off on my first attempt. It wasn't easy, but with a little help, I was able to do it!

And of course, Moon got his well earned apple at the very end!

Soon I will start posting more about Penguin Project (there won't be pictures because phones aren't allowed to be out during rehersals.) Make sure to keep an eye out for more fun posts!

February Digital Art

Since it's February, I've been doing some art on Procreate that has a theme to go along with it. Not every piece is Valentine's Day themed, but most of them do use the color scheme for it.

This dinosaur was the first drawing of the month. I think he turned out super cute. I used the Technical Pen for the outline and the Gloaming brush to color it in. Those are my main brushes.

For this drawing I used a base for the pose and added the clothes, face and hair myself. For the background detail I used the Glimmer brush. It looks like glitter which makes it one of my favorites.

I used the Glimmer brush again on this one as well as the Gaussian blur feature for the shading. I used a darker shade for the skin and the rose shading and then blurred it until it looked blended.

This drawing was a lot of fun. I used a reference for the pose and the hair, but the coloring and facial expression is all my own!

I start horseback riding next week, so stay tuned for a horse post in the next week or so!

More Digital Art!

Hello everyone! As I mentioned in the previous post, I had some more art that I made on my iPad to share!

This one is a character I designed using a simple reference for the pose. I added the hair, face, and details to the dress and background. I had fun testing out different brush styles and patterns.

These 3 drawings are more abstract than the previous ones, but I still had fun designing them. I used the blur feature on Procreate to make the bubbles look so realistic.

For the planet piece, I used the liquefy tool to make the colors swirl together.

These 2 are both drawings of horses owned by one of my riding instructors at 3 Gaits. Aruba is the lighter colored one and Donatello (aka. Donut) is the darker brown horse. I used photo's of the horses as a guide to get the shapes and colors right.

Speaking of horses, in a couple of weeks I will be starting riding classes at 3 Gaits again, so keep an eye out for that post!
