WALH Camp: Scavenger Hunt

The Tuesday night event at camp this year was the very popular annual scavenger hunt. Each year the theme is different, but this year it was MCU themed! That was pretty much perfect since my family had just about finished watching all the Marvel movies in order. Me and Parker joined a team with Emma and our helpers! We called ourselves the Fantastic 5!

The first task we had to complete was matching Marvel heroes to their alter egos. Parker and I did very well and we helped our team collected the first "infinity stone".

For the second task, each member of our team had to paint their faces as a different MCU hero. Try and guess who each of us was.

Parker's face paint

My face paint

Emma's face paint

Courtney's face paint

If you guessed Hulk, Spiderman, Iron Man, and Black Widow, then you have a very good eye for recognizing MCU characters! Even if it's done in very messy looking face crayons.

The 3rd task was using a diy fishing pole made by one of the male volunteers to fish out letters to spell a characters name. This was tricky because in order to get the "infinity stone" it had to be spelled exactly. We chose Ultron for our character name.

The next task was in the arts and crafts room with Julie. We had to carve a character out of stone. At first, Courtney thought we had to literally carve a character out of the block, but then she accidentally smashed too hard and learned their was a little figurine of Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy to be cut out.

I don't have pictures for the final task, but I do have quite the story! With each task, we also had to crush some empty cans and carry them with us. Since my scooter had a basket, a lot of them were loaded into it to the point where it was almost overflowing. I went speeding at almost top speed into the next room and hit a bump. All the cans in my basket went flying! I think that may have played a part in winning that task, since we all had to sing the Spiderman theme song. None of us were very good.

We didn't win first place, because we couldn't guess the 5 letter password and had to stop at each station again and say "I am Groot" to get the clues before the other teams. It was still fun and we have lots of great memories!

Keep an eye out for more posts!

InkTober: Week 3!

Hello everyone! It's a new week, which means a new art post! I can't believe I'm already almost halfway done with this months drawings!

InkTober 10/15/2023: Extraterrestrial

Here’s another great example of my artistic improvements! And funny story, both drawings were drawn on October 15!

InkTober 10/16/2023: Arachnid

Another comparison drawing! Normally I would hate spiders, but she seems quite friendly, wouldn’t you agree? And she has hands this year and not “mitten hands” lol.

InkTober 10/17/2023: Ancient

For today’s drawing, I redrew this ancient Egyptian mummy! I think she turned out great! I especially love how the coloring turned out!

Inktober 10/18/2023: Royalty

This is is brand new drawing! I have little story for this character!
The young girl, soon to be Queen was framed for treason and other crimes against the kingdom by her would-be husband. She had no proof of her innocence and she was sentenced to death before she could take the crown.
Her husband became ruler, but the people rebelled because he was a cruel and unjust king, whereas his dead wife would have been the perfect queen!

Inktober 10/19/2023: Float

Todays drawing is a spooky little ghost girl! I like my updated version better because she looks much more expressive and her colors pop more!

Inktober 10/20/2023: Stone

This drawing is new, so nothing to compare it to. It seems this stone guardian would be protecting something. A secret or treasure perhaps?

InkTober 10/21/2023: Doll

Another great comparison of 2 drawings! I wanted to keep the spooky vibes without making this cute voodoo doll look too scary.

Stay tuned for more spooky drawings next week!

InkTober: Week 2!

Hey everyone! Welcome to another week of fun artwork! I hope you all are enjoying these! I know it has been awhile since I posted my art here.

10/8/2023: Gothic

This one is another comparison and you can really see the improvements with this one! I love how the face and body turned out!

InkTober 10/9/2023: Scarecrow

This one is another comparison! I think this year she turned out looking more like a scarecrow with how I drew the face! What do you guys think?

InkTober 10/10/2023: Stitches

For today’s prompt, of course I had to draw Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas! She’s one of my favorite Halloween characters!

InkTober 10/11/2023: Undead

Another drawing with a comparison! I like how this year’s zombie girl turned out!

InkTober 10/12/2023: Pastel

Another day, another fun drawing comparison! I had fun coloring this cute Cyclops girl with some new pastel colors! I think she looks much more colorful this year!

InkTober 10/13/2023: Superstition

Today for Friday the 13th is the prompt Superstition. And its a completely new drawing today. I don't believe black cats are unlucky. What about you guys? Are you superstitious?

InkTober 10/14/2023: Deep Sea

Another comparison of a spooky drawing! I like this year’s drawing of the deep sea monster. I would not want to run into one though!

I hope you all are enjoying these drawings! Keep an eye out next Sunday for Week 3 of InkTober!

WALH- Arts & Crafts!

The next day at camp was another highlight! It was one of my favorite things, Art's & Crafts! Those of you who know me know I'm a very crafty person, so it's not surprise that I had a lot of fun with it at camp, although I didn't spend as much time there as I thought I would!

The first crafty activity I did was shaving cream tye-dye. I did a zipper pouch and a t-shirt. Both turned out really cool and the way the now former camp director and fellow crafter, Julie had us the-dye was a lot less of a mess!

This is the shaving cream before I tie-dyed my stuff......

Adding lots of blue, pink, and purple dye. My favorite colors.....

Cover the pouch with the colorful cream.......

What a nicely coated pouch.

Coloring the shirt next! The shaving cream is now also tie-dye!

Adding some extra color dye for more vibrancy!

The next craft I did was dot painting a heart shaped stone! This took a lot more focus than the tie-dye to get the dots in the right places.

And here is the finished result! Of course I had to use pink and purple!

Stay tuned for my next camp post about the wild MCU themed scavenger hunt!

WALH: Trail Ride, Boat Ride, and Hiking Trail!

Hello everyone! This camp post is gonna be long because the next day was very busy! It was the only day I had to be up at a certain time! But it was totally worth it because everything was so fun! I had been looking forward to the boat ride and it was definitely a highlight of my week at camp! To get to the boat dock, first we had to take a trail ride in a trailer through the forest surrounding the campground. It was fun, but it was also pretty bumpy.

Before we left, Parker and I noticed we had identical shirts! We hadn't even planned that, so we got a good laugh about that. Great minds really do think alike!

Once we got off the trailer and onto the boat, it was time to get going! The scenery was all so pretty and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

The captains were really funny and I learned a lot about the scenery and the rock formations along the boat route!

This is only a handful of pictures we took have the scenery! All of it was so gorgeous!

This is the front of the boat! It was a pretty large boat. We had plenty of space to wander and look around.

While we were on the boat, we saw some interesting rock formations, including one that looked like a stack of pancakes!

When we got of the boat, everyone was excited for the hiking trail! It was very cool and all the rocks and plants were beautiful!

On the trail, we saw the Witches Bathtub and the Witches Gulch. I would not want to fall down that hole!

The trail got narrower as we went. Soon everyone was walking or rolling in a straight line and groups coming from the other direction had to wait for all the wheelchairs and scooters to pass!

Near the end of the walk, we saw some footprints in the sand. I'm not sure what kind of animal made them, but I am glad we didn't see it.

Just before the concessions and souvenir stop, there was a sign that talked about the Old Dells. I didn't look too closely, but it was pretty interesting.

After stopping for a snack and buying a necklace, we headed back to the boat and the trailer to head back to camp.

Stay tuned for more camp posts! There will be a lot more!
